Description
As an artist and the love of the outdoors, this is one of the most beautiful places to ride the raft.
Most beautiful place to visit and a place for solitude.
The starting point is not too far from Albany-Lebanon, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The McKercher Park to Brownsville section of Calapooia River is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Oregon tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable.
You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper, you can camp at one of the great campgrounds
nearby. The McKercher Park to Brownsville stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Whether your whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The scenic beauty of Oregon and the water flowing gracefully down Calapooia River have people coming here. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come.
