Famous for playing comic "dumb blonde" characters, she became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s, emblematic of the era's attitudes towards sexuality. Although she was a top-billed actress for only a decade, her films grossed $200 million by the time of her unexpected death in 1962. She continues to be considered a major popular culture icon.

Marti was born to her passion for nature and painting. It has always seemed natural for her to express the diversity that nature has to offer through her paintings. She has an innate ability to express nature's ever-changing moods through her use of color and simplicity of style. Her vitality for life and the emotions she feels are all expressed through her paintings, most of which are from places she has visited and sketched on site.
